I was just reading on the bbc website how the british home office has released a list of names of people that are barred from britain including the leader of the kkk and a german neo nazi extremist and guess who? These 3 wont surprise anyone really. wouldnt you want them kicked out of your country. Fred Waldron Phelps Snr, a 79-year-old American Baptist pastor, and his daughter Shirley Phelps-Roper are barred for their anti-gay comments.

Both have picketed the funerals of Aids victims and celebrated the deaths of US soldiers as "punishment" for US tolerance of homosexuality.

Talk show host Michael Savage - real name Michael Weiner - is also excluded. His views on immigration, Islam, rape and autism have caused great offence in America.

That was just a small part of an article from the bbc

All those people should be barred from the human race. They just continue to hurt innocent people. I'm glad they're banned. Too bad the U.S. won't do the same!

Original article link if anyone wants to read it.

It's a strange situation, there's nobody on that list that I'd want in the country, that's for sure, and it's good to see the Phelps' on it... But it leaves a bit of an uneasy feeling that they can do that - deny someone access to the country just because their views "fundamentally go against our values." Not so long ago, being gay "fundamentally [went] against [Britain's] values".

Yeah but, being gay is not a view that anybody holds, its actually what a person is. A view can be changed!! Plus the Phelps family incite hatred and so thats the key point why they were not let into the country rather than because of the views they hold.

I know, I just don't like the amount of power our government has granted itself of late. I guess I'm just a bit cynical is all.

I agree with you on that though, it should be kept an eye on that they watch themeselves with the powere they exert cos lately it has been gettin outta hand but this is one thing i think they should be congratulated on. Now they just need to sort out the rest of the countries dire condition!

Yep. I'm going to keep a very close eye on how they use this power in future though. They have used it for good this time, that's for sure, but it's a very easy thing for them to abuse, and it wouldn't need to be this well publicised either. I think it's very possible that they are trying to win public support, and then will quietly use it in future for less obviously good means, for their own ends.

I'll go back to my cave and don my tinfoil hat...
