I can't believe that denying married gay couples the same benefits given to married straight couples is legal, considering the anti-discrimination laws here in Iowa. This just shows how important it is to get Obama/Congress to act to change the laws at the federal level.

That's stupid. When a married gay employee asks their employee why they can't get benefits, what does he say?

Someone needs to complain to someone higher than them.

I think it's entirely possible that this is an indirect stab at gays.

    Lets think about it.
I'm a company, if there is an option to save money I'm gonna take it. Especially in this economy. If i can deny benefits to a group and save the company money why wouldn't I?

Big business bites, but i don't think this is entirely a stab at GLBT people.

we need to lobby to make denying these spousal rights illegal. thats the only way to get this done. as long as employers can make a choice, they arent in the wrong (legally speaking) to deny. morally speaking is something that is suposed to be seperate from the law (take that religious right, my turds have more moral authority then you do, and in the end your both going to be flushed down the drain)
