Our fault, apparently. Sally Kern (R - OK) claims the recession is the fault of homosexuals and pornography.

    Sorry about that.

"Sally Kern, are you for real? Do you have a Brain?
How did you get elected? Do you use the Magic 8 Ball for voting on issues in Government?
I cannot believe she is for real."

A Morality Proclamation introduced into the Oklahoma state legislature blames gays, porn and abortion for the nation's economic distress. Controversial and outspoken Sally Kern, Republican lawmaker from Oklahoma, is in the news again with a proposed Morality Proclamation for the state of Oklahoma. The document claims “abortion, pornography, same sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse and many other forms of debauchery” is responsible for the country’s economic woes.

To rectify the problem, Kern's “Oklahoma Citizen’s Proclamation for Morality” suggests the following solution: “BE IT RESOLVED that we, the undersigned, humbly call upon Holy God, our Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer, to have mercy on this nation, to stay His hand of judgment, and grant a national awakening of righteousness and Christian renewal as we repent of our great sin.”

Kern is no stranger to controversy. She is known for her anti-gay rhetoric and walking into the state capital with a semi-automatic handgun stashed in her purse. Kern is probably best known for her comparison of homosexuality to toe cancer, and her repeated claims that homosexuals are a greater threat to our nation than terrorism. Now she has ignited controversy once again with a document that blames America’s current economic crisis on “our greater national moral crisis.”

Toe cancer? Sorry, wait? We're like "toe cancer"? What an intensely innocuous and strange metaphor. I mean, of all the terrible disorders we could be, we're lodged as toe cancer? We need to try harder, people!

To be fair, I haven't been stimulating the economy nearly enough as I should do. I need to go out and buy stuff. NOW!

only one of those things are not specifically heterosexually based, and porn is not a matter of sexual orientation, but personal preference *heck, I cant stand gorey horror films, should I blame the economic recession on the Saw films?*

Sally kern is a total whackjob and has been her entire career.

Divorce is caused by heterosexuals, cause gays cant get married in most of the country.

Didnt she once get in trouble for making a statement that interracial marriage should be banned cause the jews and the blacks are destorying god's race *the white people*?

    "Recession blamed on gays, porn"

    Eloquent.

I know this is completely absurd for me to say and has no logical basis, and I admit it's ludicrous, but I think it's somewhat ironic that she mentioned garnering support from the Judeo-Christian community. It seems as though Christianity and Catholicism don't exactly have the best history with treating the Jewish community with much dignity. Funny how they can lump the two together--"Judeo-Christian"--when it's convenient for them. Common enemy?

Yes, they have the same parent belief system, but they also have a history of inequality stemming from Christianity. At least from the little tiny bit that I know.

Ludicrous, I know. Totally stupid idea. It just managed to pop in my head at the time.

    It's true!
if they weren't spending so much of their time in the government trying to take away our rights and censure us then they would have noticed the wild party going on in wallstreet and could have prevented this whole catastrophe!
    goddamn us.

  17. After the bullshit Sally Kern spewed last year, I'm surprised she's still allowed to speak.

Jarrett has a good point. Who knows how much politicians could accomplish if they didn't waste time trying to control peoples lives.

    She's from Oklahoma...not that surprising.
