As of today, people in the District of Columbia will be able to have their out of district marriages recognized. This is one more step to having marriage equality in the city and having marriages performed there: it is expected to be introduced in the fall. This was essentially a test to see if the US Congress would block the measure.
I was so happy when i saw it, then CNN replayed the clip when Michael Jackson's daughter was crying and me sad all over again....
Wait lemme see if i understand. DC is going to (assuming it passes) allow marriage documents of all kinds from forieghn places, Like i get married in MA and i can be married in DC? Or will they do that AND you can get married in DC?
For now, as I understand, you can't get married in DC, but they will recognize an out-of-state (district?) marriage. So if you were married in Massachussets, you stay married in DC.
