Don't be silly! The majority of Maine voters support gay marriage.

What a weird number that they had to reach...

And that's true, so did the majority of Californians. :/

Hmmm, is there any opinion poll to confirm that?

You can't trust opinion polls from either pro-equality or anti-equality campaigners. You also need to actually check how many people have been interviewed. A serious problem with Prop 8's opinion polls is that the majority of them suggested it wouldn't pass, but they only actually surveyed about 3,000 people. Opinion polls don't even give half the picture, so let's not underestimate opponents. It's not going to be clear until the votes are counted in a referendum.

Well true, but the north east has always been more liberal than California. I honestly think the referendum won't pass.

We need to make sure their efforts fail, we need to take a stand against hate.

you cant trust opinion polls at all no matter what they are, as opinions can be baste on pre judgement, miss conception, and bias aswell as the facts...

they are skewd by the people you ask,

its why political opinion polls cant be trusted you dont know whos asked what they think what motives they have for the opinion,

i see it on the news everyday oh the public opinion polls shaw such and such .....well ive never been asked so to me they are nul and void

i thought this was possibly all to good to be true

An interesting note; Maine has voted on gay rights more than any other state in the US. Also, Maine has the oldest median age of any state. The last time they voted, 55% of Mainers voted to uphold an anti-discrimination law.

Usually support for those laws are way higher than same-sex marriage. That, with the age factor, makes it look like it would be tough for our side to win.

It's a New England state, so it's possible, but I'm not too hopeful.
