That list makes me sick. :frowning2:

I'll have a moment of silence for those who are forever silenced. :frowning2:

Tonight, I'm going to a ceremony in remembrance, where we'll be reading out all of the names. I think everyone at least needs a moment of silence for the T's among us, who deal with discrimination so is usually so much worse than we can imagine.

As will I. That's a terriying statistic, but seeing the faces and names is just sickening.

Thanks for sharing this Eleanor. Its very sad that people are so threatened by gender non-conformity.

sexuality and sexual identity in this day and age shoudlent be an issue

and those that exist further from teh social norm if that really exists seem to find it so much harder to be understood and accepted...

i feel so sad for them all

Just got back from our ceremony and parade. Two things to say about it:

The Good: We were stopped by at least 30 people who got to learn about Day of Remembrance, and all were very willing to hear and were supportive. Some even brought their kids over to hear, then actually talked to the kids about being trans, how they would still accept them, and everything. Absolutely heart-warming.

The Bad: We were protested by religious zealots, firstly. Secondly, we read about 40-something names last year. This year: over 160. I pray that's only due to better acknowledgement as to what is a hate crime and not due to rising violence.
