No civil union for straight pair

I loved this article. =) Also just over a month ago, The Quakers said that they will push for gay marriage in the UK.

i love this kind of stuff. In the same vein as those attempts to have divorces made illegal.

    I like it.

They are clearly 'rights minded' people.

I never realised Civil Partnership was restricted to same-sex couples.. I was under the impression it was designed as a way of giving two people the same rights as a married couple without them necessarily being a couple - as in siblings, or good friends living together..

Clearly I was wrong, but we really should have something like that, no? And both it and marriage be gender-irrelevant.

Problem is....civil union/partnerships people actually don't have ALL the rights of a marriage, just saying.

Way to go. Nice to see straight people pushing back against stupid laws.

This has been my argument all along:

If you want your union recognised by the government, you apply for a civil union.

If you want your union recognised by a religious institution, get married in one.

unfortunately, adoption for non married couples (as well as a lot of other privileges married couples receive) is still impossible in many places

That's really interesting. I wonder if the couple have gay/bi friends...
