I had no idea he was gay. And an LGBT activist. Ian McKellan just became way awesomer in my mind. And he was already pretty awesome. Now we just need Patrick Stewart to come out *crosses fingers*

ian was a activist when it was uncool to be actively in support of gay rights. He came out i think in responce to section 28 in the late eighties, early nineties. Section 28 had something to do with restricting gay rights and keeping people in the closet. ot british, so dont know all the details. He is just such a broadly talented actor.
If I ever become a famous actor, and then am told the same sort of thing, I'll also tell them "F*** off I'm gay" just because it makes sense. Why would I give autographs to people who hate who I am lol. Congrats Sir Ian McKellan for being so wonderful.
Revan, just have to say it, DEVIL WEARS PRADA ROXS!!! okay, back to Ian. It takes nerve to stand up, and basically say "this is who I am... don't like that? well it is none of your fucking buisness!!!" Regardless who they are, I would be cheering them on. The fact that it was one of britians most respected actors only makes it all the more great.
