It was an awful defeat, but we must rally: First to NJ, then to DC to finish the job then regroup and work to where we have to go next.

What was with that guy who just walked out of there while she was talking? What an ass.

I found the way she used individual examples (instead of just general terms like "gay couples"/"straight couples") to be both very personal and very powerful.

I enjoyed hearing the one you posted Revan in the NY/DC thread.

But I liked this one also for its snappish and to the point manner. I am so sick of people droning on about this, but not darely to say anything substantive. She used humor to make any valid points.

That is beautiful. But it almost made me cry. This speech was not followed by passing the bill, and that is just....so....sad. How anyone can listen to such perfect reasoning and still vote no, i will not ever understand.

hate to say it, but when politicians inject their religion into a debate or vote... reason, logic, decency, and yes, often morality is just thrown out the window.

Savino kicks ass; that video gave me chills. It's disappointing how many people ignore common sense (because there is NO valid reason to deny gay marriage) just because they're uncomfortable with something or afraid of change.

That's...actually perfectly normal in the senate. I doubt it was malicious in any way...senators just walk out at random.

That being said, it was a great speech. Her argument that it is, and will always be, a church's prerogative to allow or deny a marriage...but that it should not be up to the state to do so...is exactly how I feel.

common sense seems to be rare these days.
