(sorry ive been posting so many threads! I just found a lot i wanted to talk about recently...)

Recently, Dockers created a campaign centered around "Wear the Pants". Innocent enough statement at first glance. The contraversy here comes in the following fine print in the picture:

Alot of people are finding it sexist and/or homophobic.

Personally? I just think its a stupid ad and i dont think many guys are going to rush out to buy Dockers after reading this :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Also, as some who is Genderqueer, i find it very hateful to people who do not fit society's gender binary. You dont have to paraphrase it much to get the line "Androgyny is whats wrong with society so wear our pants"

Surprised that, with all the modern techniques and special effects, they couldn't make a less... well there must be thousands of other ideas to sell pants than this crap.

What a sh*t advert. I'm convinced I don't want to buy from them, now.

Meh. I like androgyny, and I don't mind getting my hands dirty, either. They can take their pants and eat them.

Stupid ad. However, the CEO of Levi's parent company is gay and is a very gay friendly company to work for.

But I agree: Stupid Ad campaign.

I was thinking this was going to be a thread where the sexism was subtle and debated on but these guys are really letting their insecurities shine.

excuse me mr.ad but i wear the pants. ^_^ but really it is kind of rude. old people dont let stargers touch them and ladies dont need some guy to hold open a door.

I think it's kind of hilariously stupid. It almost pokes fun at male stereotypes in of itself. It certainly isn't going to get me or anyone else to run out and buy Dockers, but I don't think it's particularly offensive.

Fucking ridiculous. Further perpetuating the belief in American society that masculinity is superior to femininity. Offensive to women and to men who do not fit the macho-man stereotype.

    I hate stuff like this.
