Both of authors of this piece worked in justice department under Reagan so this is somewhat suppressing coming from them.

Contrary to what alot of conservatives say, reagen was not a republican like they were. For one, he believed strongly in concrete diplomacy and outreach, which is frowned upon, and he raised taxes. Best not to be surprised that people who worked under/with his administration would support the repeal. He was a lincoln republican when you get down to it. One of his sons is a democrat, and his wife supports embryonic stem cell research. Reagan, with his flaws, was far more moderate than people like to claim he is.

We are actually, thanks in part to the tea baggers, seeing the right divide itself more clearly. You got palin, and the fundementalist fringe breaking apart from traditional republicans, and moderates are finding more voice, many who are supportive of gay rights on libritarian grounds, and still have their conservative political values in tact.

I really think that Perry V. Govenator is doing wonders, along with meagan mccain, and yes, even a fox news anchor, who supports gay marriage.

The more the party splinters and works to reform, the more people on the right will be able to gather in numbers to support gay rights. people like meagan mccain, and ted olson are leading the way.

John McCain, and other repugs can keep claiming repealing DADT will equate to goverment sanction games of barriack grabass all they want, but being gay does not mean you cant serve with dignity.
