I'm tempted to say "it's texas", but that's not really fair.

    Politicians are just weird.

Yes, "If we ignore the fact that they are actually married, then we won't allow them to be divorced, ( even though a same sex couple getting divorced would secretly make us happy)." -State of Texas IMO

this should be an easy thing to get fixed. By not granting them a divorce they are trampling on some rather important rights. They have a right to the pursuit of happiness and being forced to stay married to someone you don't want to kind of goes against that >_> i hope their is one competent lawyer that can make a mockery of this whole homophobic case of bullshit..... this legitimately got me angry then i remembered this picture that someone needs to send to this dipshit.

Uh no. It isn't at all.

It's an unfair stereotype that Texas hates gays. The people (depending on where you live, of course) are quite accepting of gays. It's average, I would say, compared to every other state. We just have a GOVERNMENT filled with old idiots and morons *CoughRickPerrcyCough* who only seem to do what the people don't want. We've only got older people voting too, because no young person wants to vote in this godforsaken state. Gahd.

Long story short, Texas doesn't hate gays. End of story.

True..considering the state is pretty much run by politicians..no matter the state (i say that since you were describing people in general..not just the state of texas, ANightDude) Since the state itself is not allowing this couple to get a divorce..it is the state and it's leaders who have decided this. It is truly a republican state. They just fail in general. Until the old politicians get knocked off and the younger ones rise up, this will continue to happen. Now.. The jesus facepalm was more than deserved..and I'd like to contribute my facepalm for this sort of epic fail moment. I give you.. the Tactical Facepalm..

The sticky wicket is if they gays can get divorced in Texas, then they'd have to acknowledge gays can marry.

    Post hoc ergo propter hoc.

I'm probably biased by the state of churches and Christianity in Texas. I served in a parish in West Texas for 9 years.
