Good for Desmond Tutu. More Africans need to speak up against the hate that is going on in Africa.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu is one of the heroes of Africa. While I have never been a fan of organised religion - I am an enormous fan of this man's wisdom, compassion - and willingness to say what he believes, regardless of the underlying political current.

He embodies just about everything that SHOULD considered as the 'christian spirit'.

He is, as far as I am concerned, pretty much a 'living saint'.

I'm glad of that. You should educate yourself on him. He's one of the great leaders of our day, alongside others like Mother Teresa and Nelson Mandela(IMHO).

I was completely unaware of these persecutions going on in places like Uganda until last week. I saw a story on the news (maybe ABC) telling about GLBT being tracked, killed, or imprisoned because of their sexuality. The horrible part is that it primarily started after an American Evangelical group came and spread their "message." This message was obviously hate, regardless of what their leader said in the broadcast. If you can get the chance to look it up, it was either Wed. or Thurs. last week on ABC Nightly News. It was pretty sad.

If this is truely one of the main reasons it started, it's sad that Americans are helping aid the hate by purging love simply because it's in a different form. And they know they can get away with it in an third world country because of lack of civil rights over there. :frowning2:
