Really sucks that a whole town thinks is bad to be known as a community that would accept gays. How awful would that be *facepalm*

That dude has some serious courage for doing all of this though. To confront a whole town by himself, not even with the help of his parents. Glad that at least the college students went and gave him some support.

^ was it not a girl? still this is a real drama unfolding in that town, someone should make a TV show about it, starring Graham Norton lol

ignorant hicks. dont mind hes gay but dont want others to know like its a dirty secret their town has. and not wanting to be dancing around with gays.... these people i keep seeing everywhere are pretty fucked up.

ive just never heard anything like this before these problems people seem to have with proms. perhaps they really are more trouble than they are worth.

I'm planning on doing the same thing. High-five! haha
Don't think they will have a problem with it, but with all these stories going around it got me a little worried.

Luckily when I was in high school, there was no problem admitting same-sex couples to the prom. My friend and her girlfriend were able to go; the teacher who put the event together is VERY open-minded and non-judgmental. If I were out and actually had a bf then I probably would have gone with a date. It's nice to see that not all schools are discriminatory to their students. It is a shame that the parents actually kicked the kid out of their home.

I'm glad this school isn't letting their guard down. Other schools, especially the one in Mississippi, could easily learn from this.

dont be worried, the secret to infiltration is look like you belong there walk sound act confident even if your totally bricking it. just go in have fun be happy and what can they do ask you to leave? doubt they will, and anyone got a problem they cant do much there and then other than stay clear of you.

This is only about 45 minutes away from me and I didn't hear about it, but I can totally believe that people would protest this, it's not unusual in the deep South.

sounds like a euphanisem for anal sex...

    ...just saying.

Honestly, the fact that they are protesting should be a wakeup call that they are wrong.

the bible says not to judge, nor to treat others with disdain or hatred. the fact that they are protesting him and the school for letting him go to the prom shows they are what is wrong, not him and his gayness.
