This is why I don't worry too much about any setbacks to equality. We will win in the end. There is no way you can question that fact. These polls always group people 18-29, but I've always wondered what the percentage is of people around 22/23 and younger. Maybe I'm just biased by the people I'm around the most, but I'd imagine it's something like 75%.
I know we will win eventually. However, I'd like it to happen sometime before I'm in my 50s, which is what it might take for the current generation of teens and 20 somethings to get up to the age where we are running the country. Also, what came to mind with the title of the thread: "Mein Fuhrer, we cannot allow a Gay gap!"
I apologize in advance for bragging, but... Go Canada, go Canada!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_Canada
That's where you are wrong my Friend, the UK does not have Gay Marriage. They have a civil partnership - which is similar but still leaves you without a few rights that a straight couple would have. Hoping in the next few years however, that England will take the leap and introduce full marriage - just as Norway, Sweden and a number of other countries have. As for the generation cap, I agree this is definately something that will be won one day. However, I guess that's the downside of modern medicine - old people are living longer than ever before. So it will be a little while before the old fashioned mindset on homosexuality is abolished.
I know those numbers are from 2004... but why the hell would the numbers not be the same for pro same-sex marriage if you had a friend that was gay? Would you want them to be happy too?? Eh, whatever. I'm going to agree with Geradeth. GO CANADA, GO! *waves the gold medal*
This graph looks promising for the US, hopefully equality will be achieved in the next 10~20 years (or sooner)...I wonder how this same graph looks like for countries in South America, Asia or Middle East
