BC man gets 17 months for hate crime

Honestly i think 17 months is a little light. An unprovoked attack like that should get more time than that whether a hate crime or not and the fact it was a hate crime should make it even worse. 3-5 years minimum i would say would be acceptable. However i am always one saying that the punishments from crimes is never severe enough.

Let's just say if the victim were another race or religion and that was the motive for the crime, the sentencing would be so much longer.
