It'll probably die in their Senate, not to be cynical. Hopefully they prove me wrong though.

Latin America, although Catholic, is highly accepting of the LGBT community for the most part. They have a much more modern view of things, much like Spain which is also a Catholic nation and allows same-sex marriage.

Also, they already have something similar so it wouldn't be that much of a jump.

Spain is Europe though and they've proven to be more progressive on things like this than the Americas are.

You're assuming that South America generally acts the same way as North America which is a huge misinterpretation. Just because we are connected doesn't mean we're alike.

Latin America is heavily influenced by Europe, and retains almost all of the beliefs and customs. That is untrue almost exclusively with the US.

Unless you've been to Argentina and studied the culture, I wouldn't be saying they aren't progressive, or any less than Europe is.

I'll get married in Nepal, and then Argentina, and then Portugal! It'll be a wonderful start to a world tour. Haha.

Well, it is going to soon I expect, the Prime Minister of Portugal doesn't have final say in government, so even if he vetoes it, "the legislature is thought to have enough votes to override a veto from Silva" (http://tinyurl.com/y3zznae).
