I wish they would stop shoving their heads into politics! They are soon going to loose all creditability (well what they have left!) with people if they keep on going the way they are going!

saying it is wrong to coverup years of child abuse and molestation angers catholic bishops.

They have no credibility, and we need to stop giving them any. They can be angry all they want, but they have no moral authority.

too bad that the whole seperation of church and state is not enforced.

Vatician city is not actually a true sovereign state. it only has implied sovereinty because places like the united state, italy, and other countries choses to play along with the game.

I know it wont happen, but if a few large countries take a stance and refuse to acknowledge diplomatic standing for the catholic church's vatician hierarchy until the church takes responciblity for its direct actions, maybe they will see that if they want to play in this world, they have to play by all the rules everyone else has to.

They do have moral authority, they just have no legal authority. Hence why them being irate is essentially the equivalent of, say, a gust of wind blowing by. Few pay attention to it and even less actually give a damn.

they really dont have moral authority. Truth is, there is no such thing as 'moral authority'. it is what people label themselves when they cant give a legitimate reason why they should have authority. Like it or not, morality in this world is subjective. They can claim to be doing gods work, but if the bible is the souce they are to be judged against, they are failing miserably.

Politics and religion dont mix. Our founding fathers were overwhelmingly distrustful of organized religion have any role in goverment. They had good reason, and it is the same reason we are discussing: the catholic church.

We were never meant to be a christian nation. our founding fathers were overwhelmingly Diestic. Thats why they overwhelmingly were against a theocratic soceity.

Law and goverment is suposed to based on reason, on common sense, on logic. It was never meant to be based on superstition, he-said-she-said, or the idea that god will do everything for us.

That is not to say religious law and reasoned law do not overlap, because they do. However, the catholic church has been raping, molesting, and murdering for the entire run of it's history, all in directly contradiction of christ's teaching.

They cling to their self-labeled moral authority because that lie is all they have. The source of their power is that few are willing to properly challange their hypocracy.

now they are angry because people are standing up to do that with the court cases here in the states, claiming that they cant be held responcible for their priest molesting children because their priests are not under the guise of the vatican.

Now they are trying to claim diplomatic immunity in these cases on the basis of the fact that their so called 'moral authority' veil is not sheilding them anymore. They know they cant claim moral authority while they allowed centuries of rape to knowingly happen.

The catholic bishops need to keep out of politics, and take responciblity for themselves before they start shouting 'sinner sinner sinner SINNER BURN IN HELL!' at everyone else.
