Roy Ashburn talks gay rights on [California] Senate floor

    He voted against passing the measure because it defined gay partnerships as "civil unions", rather than marriage, as it had been defined in the previous law (at least that's how I understood it).

    Really though, I don't care if this man votes against every single measure for gay rights, so long as he does his job. His job is to be the voice of his constituents, and if they don't want gay marriage or rights, then he shouldn't vote for it. (flame war in 3...2...1...)

    Not gonna flame you Zumbro, but if politicians and laws were supposed to follow every opinion of their constituents, I doubt the Civil Rights Act would've passed.
