[Oklahoma City]Gay rights group upset over signs

A local organization is upset about some flyers that were posted right next to their street banners. The Cimarron Alliance Foundation, which promotes gay and lesbian issues, says someone taped signs with the word "repent" directly under their banners. "There's a sadness in that for me because it's saying that for some people, hatred remains a family or state value. I don't believe that. I don't believe the general public feels that way," said Scott J. Hamilton, Executive Director of the Cimarron Alliance.

The typed up signs were placed along street posts near Classen and 38th Street.

Hamilton believes the word "repent" was purposely placed near their signs as a way to insult those in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

When people saw the signs, they had mixed reactions.

"It's kind of hard to tell. I mean, someone could have been specifically meaning for that, but at the same time maybe they weren't," said one resident.

Another person had a different view; "If somebody put it to offend somebody, then it's bad."

The Cimarron Alliance found out about the signs Friday night.

The foundation plans on contacting the Oklahoma City Monday morning about having them taken down.

Well, we know that the person who put up "REPENT" is just stupid. Also, I agree that it's not clear who it's directed at but regardless it is insulting. People always say that society as a whole should repent because "of the liberal treatment of homosexuality."

Meh. Gotta love those real-life trolls.
