Honestly, the tea party is a joke. They dont even know what the actual boston tea party was about. They are being run by the same type of people that the guy who flew his plane into a austin texas build was, anti-goverment, anti-america, anti-paying your taxes whackjobs.

just because they scream really loud, doesnt mean they truly matter.

I think alot of them realize that the homophobes are losing the gay marriage battle. They are not going to waste time on a lost cause.

just remeber, the tea partiers are pro racial profiling. They often throw out shit through signs and rants about how obama's race makes him unamerican, and how arizona's racial profiling based immigration law is good for america.

They are even advocating for the very policies that destoryed the econamy.

They are just the puppets of the coorprate interest groups that created the movement in the first place.

It's alright, though. As much as a joke the entire Tea Party is, they won't be around long. Ten years and they'll be gone. The majority of the followers of the Tea Party are much older. My biology teacher went to the one that took place in our city, using The Alamo as a way to signify their views. They didn't even know the history of that, either. Sad.

Well that's kind of ironic because the ruling about the 10th Amendment sort of comes into play here (i believe), because it is explicitly the rule of the federal government to enforce immigration laws & secure the borders.

hence the federal lawsuit just filed against the state of arizona for it breaking federal and constitutional laws by supseceding the law in that way.

I find it ironic that republicans spent 8 years refusing point blank to deal with immigration, and the moment a democrat is in the white house, they point blank to refuse to deal with it through legal means, and now support a stead breaking federal, while still refusing to properly deal with immigration reform.

But that is a whole 'nother topic.

The problem with the tea party is that it is made up of imcompitants. These people well gush about how great ronald reagan was cause (they claim) he never raised taxes. he actually did raise taxes during his presidency.

They claim the founding fathers were all building a christian nation, when about 95% where outright against the idea of america being a christian nation, having witnesses the murderous atrocities the church enacts when it is the sole political power.

'In god with trust' was the founding fathers basically telling the churches "fuck you, God is above you, and you dont own him. Our nation is by his providence, not your churches"

The second paragraph spells it out. The Tea Party has no take on social-political matters because that's not what they're all about. In fact, IMHO, the Tea Party is an attempt to consolidate support under the umbrella of dissatisfaction. Their platform is less "this is how things should be" and more "they're doing it wrong". In a way, that's smart, as far more people will agree with a single anti-choice than they will with a single choice. If a bunch of your friends were trying to pick a place to eat, you'll find far more friends who will agree with "let's not eat at (specific restaurant)" than will agree with "let's eat at (a different restaurant)". Everything I read from the Tea Party camp sounds like somebody saying why we shouldn't eat at McDonald's, but I don't see much suggestion on where we SHOULD eat, specifically. Which is where the movement will fall apart, I think. Eventually, if enough people start paying attention, they'll start wondering "OK, where ARE we going to eat?"

I still love that when you hear the random one advocate for a policy, it is the bush policy that got us in this mess in the first place.

Ultimately, the tea party was started by right wing think tanks like freedom works, which is a anti-freedon, republican think tank that in essence is most often pushing what from a historical definition, are policies that are considered 'facist'.

When the tea partier members realize they were simply being used by coorporate interest groups... they probably for the most part wont give a shit. but likely by that time, their relevance will have long since deteriorated, due to what you said lex, in their lack of a real, definitive message or diriection.

Please don’t take this personally but that is not correct. The policy positions of FreedomWorks are pretty standard free market policies there is nothing Fascist about them, you can disagree with them all you want but don’t call them Fascist. I’m sorry but people of any ideology using Fascist as blanket pejorative for anything they disagree with is pet peeve of mine, unfortunately people do it all the time.

Honestly whatever the Tea Party may be about, coming from a conservative group, I think that "standing mute" is better than being against gay marriage which I would have expected.

  11. I agree. I would have thought that tea party people would be up in arms over this. I don't know what difference it will make as, crazy or not, they are generally regarded as crazy. But it's glad to see a conservative organization not bashing gays and gay marriage....

the only problem is that it would be what they define as 'standard free market policies'.

In reality, freedom work promotes unrestrained capitalisem. the idea that one, you should let the coorprations do whatever they want, regardless of the consequences, and two, when problems arise from the actions, negligence, or basic greed based manipulation of the market, you do not hold the coorporations responcible for those actions. That is why Dick Army, who basically was the main starter of freedomworks, pushed to deregulate the banks, lenders, mortage companies, and oil companies. That left us with the bank collapses, predatory lending, and bad paved the way for allowing bad mortages. That was what led directly to deep horizen oil disaster because they deregulated the MMS, and weakened safety protocals and requirements.

They are not promoting responcible capitalisem. If they were, they would never demand deregulation of coorporations that held a sizeable portion of our economic and energy sectors hostige, time and time again screwing the american people over.

The Tea Party does not believe in responcible capitalisem. If they did, when they criticized the banks for their behavior, they would have actually bothered trying to find solutions to hold the banks responcible for sending the entire world econamy into a spiral. The moment when it came to come together, and take action, they shut up, and all they did was blame obama (who all though has not been as effective and aggressive as he should have been on many issues, the fact that his adminsitration has stabilized and started to help guide the econamy and job issues into upward trends, clearly is doing it right.)

They may stay out of gay marriage issues, but they have yet to bother providing any solutions to the problems they complain about... without noting that they happened before obama took the white house, and that they are slowly changing into a positive upward trend after he took the white house... with the republicans basically digging in and saying "hell no" to everything without allowing for proper debate.

They refuse to blame the people who had their hands on the rudder the entire time the econamy collapsed, and refused to acknowledge the fact that job losses have slowed considerably, that the econamy is still shakey, but it has stabilized considerably, even though there is more to go, and that the value of the US econamy is rising.

And all this time, they hold signs saying that obama is adolf hitler, but never explaining how healthcare has anything to do with nazi massacure of jewish people, gay poeple (though they claim no gays were killed by the nazis, and that the nazis were all gay, even though there is no historical evidence), and european ethnic groups. They never point out that hilter was a staunch nationalist who believed that god had chosen the german people (tea partiers and republians sure love to exclaim god had picked america as a chosen people)

It is not about responciblity, because they advocate all the failed policies responcible for the problems we are facing today.

Freedomworks is not about responcible capitalisem, it is about coorprate facisem, where the cooprorations are what matters.

Dick army, liz, cheney, and the rest of the freedom work cronies could care less about liberties, which is why they are always decrying any equality given to people such as the lgbt community as being "special rights", even though they are only special rights for heterosexuals, because only they are given them, when a whole faction of our society are denied it, simply because of ignorant bigotry.

the tea party realizes they cant win on that, because they dont want to be called out for the fact that being against gay marriage, which the supreme court says is a liberty, a fundemental right, would mean going against their claim of loving freedom and rights.

Freedom works pushes policies that have been proven numerious times over the decades to hurt the middle class, even while talking out the other side of their mouth saying that they are for the middle class.

how does giving huge tax breaks the the rich and the coorporations help the middle class when history shows that the trickle down effect stops at the very top, and never goes down.

cooproations that fund republicans are crying foul saying democrats are failing on job creation, and yet it was recently proven that those same coorprations are collectively holding over two trillion dollors in capital that they wont use to create jobs within their companies to help fix the solution.

as long as all that money is tied up in thier accounts, they draw huge interest for it. rather than create jobs, they are just going to skin interest. in responcible capitalisem, companies endeaver to grow their workforce, so that they can in turn grow their share of the products/services they provide in the marketplace, which means that they can further expand their value as a company. they are cutting out a important and vital part of the free market system because they can just skim interest, and wait for republicans to get back the power, and give them huger tax breaks.

the problem is, it only throws the delicate balance obama is restoring from the bush years in jepordy. tax cuts have to be paid for. We saw a increase in goverment spending through bush, and two tax cuts pushed through by his administration together that over twenty years, will add just shy of two trillion dollars to the deficiet. they were told this by the economist before they did it.

they dont care about the deficit as much as they, and the tea partiers claim to. plain and simple.
