I love target, more so than walmart... but I am not going to shop at target at this time.

they should give 500k to gay youth charities as a act of contrition for supporting a anti-middleclass, anti-freedom, anti-lgbt cannidate.

Target is smart. They have a monopoly here where I live on anything non food. >_<

We can't NOT buy from them. Yes, I know that's a double negative, bite me.

The problem I see here has nothing to do with the fact that target donated to this person, but rather that they were allowed to donate to any political campaign.

They didn't pick this person explicitly because he was against gay marriage. Because of that, I really am not angry at Target. I don't see a point in disliking people/companies because they contribute to a political campaign. If that were the case, then there would be MANY more companies/leaders this community would dislike.

For example, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer donated to Bush's campaign (someone who explicitly was against gay marriage). Their company also has a gay rainbow flag next to an American flag at their corporate headquarters to show tolerance.

If you ran a company, and you thought that one person was going to help you more than another, you'd almost be forced to back him by your shareholders.

Is that true? I've been wondering about that lately, since I work for Target too.
