Maybe the Prop 8 Smackdown Won't Be Appealed

    So there's talk that since the Govern(at)or and the Attorney General of California don't want to appeal the unconstitutionality of Prop 8, then things will stop there, the decision is final, and same sex marriages can continue again. Because the Prop 8 proponents themselves have no right to appeal, only the government.

    It already has been appealed. Also, it would be good to go to supreme court. That could mean there could possibly be a chance for DOMA to be repealed

    Yeah but they might not have the right to. Something else I read:
    I agree that maybe it would be better to be appealed, so that it gets to the Supreme Court. But some groups think that it would be bad for that to happen, given that the court is pretty conservative.

    it should be noted that this logic would have meant that the court case couldnt have happened in the first place. the same people who refuse to appeal it, also refuses to defend it in the court case. denfendent intraveners stepped in to defend prop 8, and they can step in to appeal the decision the same way.
