Don’t get too excited the 9th circuit or the Supreme Court could still issue a stay

Is it still not likely they would issue a stay until they have time to conduct their own trial on the constitutional basis of SSM?

I'm not an expert on America's federal courts by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't really understand how a stay on the ruling can't occur when the courts could strike down the ruling and void any same-sex marriages conducted. Sure, Walker's verdict was *brilliant*, but I would have thought that the motion to prevent same-sex marriage wasn't really related to the constitutional basis of same-sex marriage at this stage. I thought the latter would be looked at in a trial, thus making a stay likely until that can occur.

Actually I'm just bsing. I haven't heard anything. My whole thought process was basically what you just said. There really isn't much reason for higher courts to issue a stay...unless they're idiots compared to Walker. And while I don't know how people get into higher courts, I'm assuming you do need to have brains and not bigotry...

Ok and what exactly does the article mean. I'm not a political man so I didn't fully understand it.

Actually because of the decision that allowed the marriages performed before prop. 8 to remain valid, any marriages performed before the decision was overturned (lets hope its not) would most likely stay valid under the same precedent.
