Well, Mary Travers died last year, but glad to know their ideals are being carried forward.

Peter, Paul and Mary have always been the pinnacle of integrity as far as the use of their music. They've been at the forefront of the civil rights movement and just about every major social issue for 45 years. I'm really glad to see they're stepping up to take action against these evil pieces of shit.

is it just me, or do you always hear about conservative groups and cannidates being told not to use people's sounds, but you never heard about musicians telling democrats and liberal groups to stop useing their songs.

besides, NOM is the antithesis of what 'this land is our land' is about.

Yeah...to NOM they'd probably rewrite it as:

This land is my land, this land's not your land,
From California, to the New York Island,
From the Redwood Forest, to the Gulf Stream Waters,
This land was made for man and woman.
I roamed and rambled, and spread some bigotry
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me my voice was singing
This land was made for man and woman!
This land's not your land, this land is my land,
From California, to the New York Island,
From the Redwood Forest, to the Gulf Stream Waters,
This land was made for man and woman.
As I went walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me my group of bigots
I saw below me those flaming f***ots (I bleeped this out...but you know what it says)
This land was made for man and woman!
This land's not your land, this land is my land,
From California, to the New York Island,
From the Redwood Forest, to the Gulf Stream Waters,
This land was made for man and woman.
As the storm was coming, and I was running,
And the wheat fields waving, and the dark clouds rolling,
As Prop 8's founded, a voice was saying
“This land was made for only me!”
This land's not your land, this land is my land,
From California, to the New York Island,
From the Redwood Forest, to the Gulf Stream Waters,
This land was made for man and woman.

I know...bad re-writing on my part...but i didn't want to completely change it >_> I suck at song writing anyway lol.......

    Good work there!!

Little known fact: Woody Guthrie was an unapologetic socialist, and This Land is Your Land actually carries a lot of his socialist message -- he said this himself -- though most people are too clueless to realize it.

The chorus -- "This land is your land, this land is my land / this land was made for you and me" is actually taking about collective ownership (according to Woody)

And there are about 5 other verses to the song, rarely sung. My favorite is:

Was a great high wall there
    That tried to stop me
Was a great big sign that
    Said "Private Property"
    But on the other side
    It didn't say nothin'
That sign was made for you and me

But I doubt the NOM people know any of that

Am I the only one who thought about Britney Spear's song, 3, from the title?

    Anyways, kudos.
