I personally agree with denying them this; I think Its awful that people would find this to change about the world when there is so much that is hurting people. Why pick on us?

Hurray for the New Zealand government!!!

Some of it is hatred, some of it is misguided charity and fear for our souls. Religious beliefs are a complicated and often annoying thing.

I'm perfectly comfortable with going to hell if it means i can stay gay.

No one believes it in RL but i actually do mean that. I don't believe in god but if i did, that is the way i would have it.

and, about the hatred, with the pope visit to england over gay rights, im blaming it all on him

This makes me happy that they were not given this status  It's what needs to happen to the Mormon Church after what they did with Prop 8.

honestly, remove tax exempt status from any tax-exempt statused institution that can be proven to be a burden to society, and the liberties of others.

you would not believe the number of churches on private land that are created by people so they dont have to pay property taxes. it is abused, and there are religious institutions that abuse it.

mormon church and catholic church, remove their tax exempt status, for they actively work to deny basic human rights to people not just in america, but all over the world.

the fundementalist mega churches that preached hatred, and get involved with politics, if they want to interfere in goverment, they cant be called a church anymore... seperation of church and state. remove church from the goverment.

I would also point out that this came from a right of centre government.

I don't know. New zealand has always seemed to generally have a live and let live additude. At least that is the impression I have gotten from a few friends from, or how have lived for a time in NZ.

If that was the truth then New Zealand would have gay marriage.
