Meh, I'm not really all that shocked when it comes to gang violence. When you hear "gang" you kinda expect it, whether it's against gays or straights or whomever. You get jaded about it after hearing about it so often.

I by no mean try to validate the gang member's acts, but when you're stuck with a decision on "You screw someone else or we screw you, worse" then you pretty much become selfish and will decide to hurt others before you.

If you're part of the very, *very* small group of people who would stand up for someone else, even if that meant jeopardizing your security, or even your life, then Bravo. That's how it's supposed to be.

Again, I am not saying they shouldn't be punished or condemned, I just say that people saying that they're the biggest evil is not quite on the mark since they're not.

I am sorry for the comparison I'm going to do, but it's like saying the people who hijacked the planes in 9-11 are the biggest evil when actually the people giving orders are.

    Dumbasses.

When you join a gang, you're going to commit criminal acts. So it doesn't work to claim "Oh, I was forced to." No, nobody forced them to join the gang, and nobody stopped them from calling 911 and saying they were being forced to commit violence against others for fear of being victims themselves.

I find it amusing how gang members act so tough and cool but when caught, now they're acting all wimpy and whiny.

I am ignorant on how gangs operate in the States, but at least here, sometimes is not even a choice whether you're in or not. If they ask you to join, you must, or you will find yourself either shot, killed, or tortured. Or in the best of the cases, they will beat you once or twice. So, don't assume about this, because that will only create biased arguments for either side.
