wont matter, because they would have to prove their claims, and that is not something WND is known for being capable of...

Wow...sounds like a torture chamber. I'd hate to be forced to sit in a room and watch porn all day...yessir...that sounds horrible.

But...if these claims are valid (and I have no idea if they are or not) then these legislators are correct and that is a horrible and insulting use of taxpayer money. If they want to be associated with the University that is fine, but there is no reason why the tax-payers should foot the bill for it...that's what private endowments are for....I'm sure Larry Flint would gladly contribute.

If they are totally bogus, it doesn't matter...because due to the massive budget gaps states are facing for the coming FY 2011-2012 they are looking at cutting anything they can to help even out the bottom line.

Me personally, I have always thought that these "public-private" partnerships associated with universities are a black hole for funding...there is really no specific line-item on the appropriation base line, so there is little fiscal accountability with these things.
So, that being said, I think that something like this (and i don't care if they are studying sex or the price of tea in China) should be cut. While there is nothing wrong with being associated with the University, I think it should rely on private funding.
