What the fuck? Since when do they have power over the district, isn't that the mayor's job? They're supposed to be running the government, not the city.

Congress has authority over the district (article 1 section 8 of the constitution). It's something D.C. complains about quite regularly and brought up anytime someone mentions D.C statehood.

EDIT: Btw D.C. didn't have an elected mayor or council till the 1970s.

We're slowly making gains in the Republican party. Not much, but enough so that some now even speak out for equality.

Although the recent winners don't really scream "gay friendly" to me, and theyre worried about the economy anyway (or so they say).
