I just took a course to upgrade my skills for a certain level of government work (I won't specify which), and realized that all the Human Rights prohibited prejudice based on a person's sex, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, or mental/physical disability. What impressed me further, was the fact that when I took the test, there were three categories to the sex: Female, Male and Trans. This made me smile. Way to go Canada! (!)
I'm a Brit and I love Canada and not cos my bf is Canadian Actually it's hard to find many Brits that don't like Canada it's like how the USA should of been. Can't wait till september and be over there.
We honestly don't notice much. I mean, we have the Governor General, but that's about as essential to our political process as the guy who hands the president a pen so he can sign bills.
Canada looks down at the USA, and says "what the fuck are they doing?!?!?" and for that, the world is a better place... BUT STOP SAYING YOUR MAPLE SYRUP IS BETTER THAN VERMONTS!!!
God Save The Queen of Canada! I am very proud to be Canadian and as a political scientist, I do believe Canada has one of the best systems of government, Queen and all! Much thanks to the UK!
I think Canada has equality under the law for LGBT people in every single way. Except I think there is a different age of consent for anal sex but I've never heard of that being enforced and in practice there is only one age of consent.
