Several Twin Cities media outlets are reporting that Republican Tom Emmer (who is trailing Democrat Mark Dayton by 8,700 votes) will concede the election tomorrow morning.

This is the race that caused an uproar when Target and Best Buy donated large sums of money to MN Forward, a pro-business group that donated money to Tom Emmer (a VERY homophobic politician.)

The upside is, out-going Governor Pawlenty will not remain in office once the new legislative season begins, so Republicans will not be able to do any more damage to our state's budget, or pass anti-gay laws.

The downside is that Republicans surprised everyone by taking control of both houses of MN legislature. (We are a very, very democratic state). Mark Dayton's campaign promise to make same-sex marriage legal in Minnesota likely won't happen now, but at least the possibility exists!
