Let NOM go around using the rainbow flag, when people approach them to express GLBTQ solidarity and they respond with ignorance and/or hatred, it will cause them to continually have to defend a morally reprehensible position against GLBTQ folks and their allies.

Good luck to NOM for taking that symbol back, even my folks know a rainbow flag signifies queers and they can barely send a text message. :lol:

christanity has no right to claim ownership of the rainbow. the rainbow is a natural phenomena that has existed far longet than the 'six thousand year existance of earth' claim of fundementalist christians. therefore, because we can prove the earth is 4b.5billion plus years old, in a universe that is about 13billion, and the processes of light refraction without question has existed for most of that time, then science owns the rainbow. by extension, science has repeatedly shown sexuality to be biological/nurological based, and therefore a natural aspect of a person's being, then we too can use the rainbow, because our scientifically proven facts outnumber fundie christian inability to understand metaphore and allagory.

also, judeo christian writings on their rainbow myth are new compaired to other mythological writtings that predate judeo christian existance by thousands of years.

Wait wait wait, guys don't you understand?! If Mother Nature gets pissed over the homophobes trying to claim the rainbow, then she'll say good bye to all of them and we'll remain, the people under the rainbow, not the ones actually trying to claim it as their own. We've never really said we owned it though you know? It's more we just use it as our symbol because it's a multitude of color to represent everyone. Black, white, gay, straight, Catholic, Muslim, everything. No one truly owns the rainbow, simply we may use it as a symbol of who we are.

 

Gays and Skittles have been sharing the rainbow for awhile now. NOM doesn't give a shit about claiming the rainbow. They just feel like they somehow have the ability to destroy gay culture if they try. They can never use the "We're not bigots, we're just preserving traditional marriage" argument again. They have just irrefutably shown that they are bigots.
