Ugh, and it's not just about Matthew Shepard, but James Byrd Jr too. She blocks this, she sends a message of hatred to both gays and blacks.

Well...she does represent Mt. Airy, which is what Mayberry is based on (I've been to the Andy Griffith museum there...neat place...i love that show, but just the black and white ones with Barney..but I digress...)

She's a nice enough lady but she says some out there things (unusual for Members of Congress I know) that most just kinda roll their eyes at.
Why is she heading the sub-committee on higher ed?
well, she has a little bit of seniority but mainly for the fact that no one was really that anxious to do it.
The fact of the matter is that most on Capitol Hill view being on any education committee as a fate worse than death.

I agree. this was a woman who, if I remeber correctly, slammed matthew sheppard, saying his murder was a hoax to cover up something sheppard was doing... infront of matthew shepards mother.

Was she also the one who blamed the economic collapse on the gays? or am I thinking of that woman from the oklahoma assembly who said the nations economy collapsed because of gays and porn.
