I'm sure there's already discussion of this in the Glee thread but I think it's an important enough issue to warrant its own thread.

Chris Colfer just won the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe for his portrayal of Kurt Hummel, the gay teenager in Glee. Watching the award on Youtube, he seems genuinely flabbergasted that he won.

His acceptance speech was a wonderful combination of grace and humility, but for me the most meaningful part was where he dedicated the award to the people who watch the show, who are bullied, and who can't be themselves.

EDIT: I replaced the original shitty recording with a better one found by EWU2012

Well deserved. I have nothing but the utmost admiration for him.

But I wish they used one of his songs for his walk to the stage...

Can you imagine? This was his first show audition, his first television role, and BAM! Golden Globe.

In many ways, I do honestly feel that his portrayal of kurt, along with jane lynchs Sue, are the two characters that anchor the entire show. I am glad both won last night.

I wish I could have sat at that Glee table...
    I'm so glad he won!
It has to mean something that two of the five noms for Best Supporting Actor were both for portrayals of gay men.

Great to see him get it, he is great in that role, and should have a career after this.

Not to mention that the character was literally created for him.

He also, i think, replaced a indian (india, not native american indian) character.

If I remeber correctly, he originally auditioned for Artie, but I think the show would not be so powerful without kurt as a character.
