I am quite embarassed to have this man as my congressperson. He sees the act of unity among Democrats and Republicans during this time after the shootings of Congresswoman Giffords and others in Tuscon as a ploy to silence Republicans and such.

the right wing of the last thirty years has been consistantly moving towards conspiracy theory as a basis for governence. We should not be surprised that the caller sees some conspiracy in having the two parties intermingle as a show of unity in the face of tragedy against one of their own, and a need to stand united for the country against such violent and threats. Remeber, it is the right wing that is harboring the birther movement that sees obama as this huge, 50 year old conspiracy to put a black secret muslim in the whitehouse, because there are people who espouse the belief that he was born solely for the purpose of growing up to take the presidency for some evil secret super power bent on destorying america. they harbour the belief that gay people are running around, trying to recruit your children, and make it so heterosexuals are not allowed to get married.

this is what the republican party is sheltering. They are clearly more than happy to bring in the ill, nurotic passions of lunatics, because they can shape that into votes.

Though it should be noted, at least with birtherisem, more republicans are standing up, and rejecting the entire conspiracy there, which is a start.

the republican party has more to gain by uniting with democrats, even if only in a symbolic gesture. however, the wingnuts of the right wing have more to gain in the short time by making a name for themselves with other wing nuts. that is not a good long term plan.

let him have his almost psychosexual masterbatory addiction to partisianship. I suspect as more times goes by, the lunacy of the fringes of both parties will matter less and less. we seem to be caught in a cycle where the country comes together, then falls apart, and comes back together.

the sad thing is tragedies like pearl harbor, kennedy assination, attempted assination of reagen, oklahoma city bombing, 9/11, and the tragedy in tuscon seem to be the only surefire ways to break through the partisian bullshit.
