    The article is a little deceptive. .xxx is the only domain that's had controversy, and the main reason has almost nothing to do with the Bush administration and everything to do with the fact that any applicant for a top level domain must have the support of the community it will serve; so, in other words, .xxx would have to show support of the porn industry, .xxx of the gay community, etc. .xxx failed miserably in that none of the adult industry wanted it. .gay I think people will feel quite differently.

    I'm not sure .gay would be as widely used as they expect. It would make it easier to filter queer sites......

    My guess it would near instantly become about 95% porn and hookup sites, sadly.

    Gays do not need their own TLD. The only reason they want an implementation is to make a blanket filter easier to apply. Not to mention that conservatives will instantly equate it with .xxx in a group of "porn" TLDs.
