So you're playing on the whole gay as happy connotation, yet at the same time you're stating a contradiction - happy does not equal gay.

Or you're having an argument about English syntax?

This slogan makes no sense to me at all.

Hear that, kids? Hateful stereotypes are okay as long as the group you're denigrating doesn't have the social confidence to stick up for themselves and cause a disruption.

    I agree.

The word "gay" equates to "happy or cheerful" in actual English. I guess hate speech such as this translates it to "unhappy", though. Intriguing - I've only heard "that's so gay", which is another lame translation from "gay" to "stupid.

I also had been under the opinion for half of my life that schools were supposed to be a safe environment for children to grow up in. Things are indeed not as they seem.

I find it very disconcerting that elders and supposed "role models" in school are teaching their students that it's okay to discriminate and hate those that are different from them.

I understand what they were trying to say, but what they actually said has so many different interpretations as to be rendered useless in slogan form.

It's like, "Two legs bad! Four legs good!" or "War is Peace!"

Summary: If you hold the ethical position, "Be happy, not gay!" I just feel bad for you as a person.

While I think the shirts are ridiculous, I agree that they have the right to wear them, just like I could technically wear a shirt that says "Gay Love is Better" and they couldn't do anything about it.

I am sorry, but it's a shirt. Yes you may not like what it says, yes it may point that person out as someone who doesn't agree...but it's still a shirt.

Strangely, I never recall anyone in school hating gays because they wore a shirt stating that, so much as what they said. Removing this from public schools does not solve any problems. I am not trying to say I like the shirt....but the shirt isn't the problem it is the person wearing it.

Why are they letting him into public schools?
