The government has come under fire for failing to publicly support a United Nations Human Rights Council resolution on ending violence and human rights abuses against gay and lesbian communities.

Mazibuko Jara, a spokesman for the Gay and Lesbian Equality Project lobby group, said he was worried that the government had not yet indicated whether it supported the UN proposal.
