California's election system (and electorate) has always just baffled me...well...California itself baffles me (they did after all re-elect a dead woman to the Legislature in 2010), but that's beside the point.

Why make things so complicated? Have a primary, and who ever gets the most votes is the respective party's nominee...it's really not that difficult.

"They are going to be held accountable to Republican voters"...well duh...that is what the primary system is all about. Most Democratic and Republican candidates in the primary process always swing right or left to capture the base of their party and go from there.
