so creationists are out of touch with reality... hardly news there =P

    [edit]

    and here's one reason why

“Of course, in a purely evolutionary world, homosexuals would naturally be bred out of existence.”

erm.... no. Let's have a little thought experiment

So, let's just say for argument's sake that there is a gene within the X chromosome which causes a strong urge to mate with males. Male recipients of this hypothetical gene could be exclusively gay. Female carriers, due to the innate urge to mate with males, would be more likely to do so often and perhaps with promiscuity (no judgement here), and thus would be more likely to have many children than non-carriers, the males of whom would have a chance of inheriting the gene.

Mirror this with an X-chromosome gene which causes a strong urge to mate with females. Male recipients would be horny goat-men who want to have sex with women all the time, creating children of both sexes with a chance of inheriting the gene, while female recipients could turn out to be lesbians.

It's of course hypothetical, but this "it would breed itself out" mentality is fucking retarded.

Creationists also believe the world is only a few thousand years old and that we lived alongside dinosaurs. I find very little credibility in anything a creationist has to say.

There's actually a flaw in that. A male carrying this hypothetical gene on his X-chromosome would be incapable of passing it on to his male offspring. However, any female offspring would be carriers and capable of having children of either sex who are carriers, thus propagating anyway (though in a slightly different manner to the prior example of a female carrier).

While this is all hypothetical and a very simple model (just for the purpose of discussion), there has been at least one study producing supporting evidence for the former example i mentioned earlier; hypersexual mothers seemed to have a higher chance of producing male children who are homosexual. I don't have a link but it was an article i read on newscientist a year or two ago. Ignoring all that, there is no reason to assume that sexually influencing genes are exclusively located within the sex chromosomes anyway. Many non-genetic factors have been tentatively correlated as being associated with a higher chance of producing non-heterosexual children... the problem is we just don't understand our own genetic makeup anywhere NEARLY thoroughly enough. That will take centuries.

Regardless, the arrogance with which these demagogues can produce such grand sweeping statements such as "it would breed itself out" from a position of complete scientific ignorance just to serve their own misguided principles is just more evidence of their willingness to warp and invent any truth to serve their own misguided ideals. Fuck them and their unthinking kin.

Or it could all be hormonal. We just don't know.

any "ism" does not fit within science. Science is built on doubt.

Which I find funny. People say "evolutionism" and "Darwinism," but those terms don't exist. There's only science. That's why when people attack evolution, they're attacking science as a whole. Evolution was created using observations and backed up with experiments using the scientific method.

The reality is that evolution, just like all of science, is not right or wrong. Science is just what we currently understand and it's growing and changing each day. Religious people don't understand the flexibility of science and view it as a weakness instead of a strength. Science isn't dogmatic like religion.

Funny, I thought teaching Evolution would allow our schools to be scientifically on par with most high schools in the world as well as result in higher grades because the class and science courses might actually make more sense.

That's ridiculous. It amazes me how religion overrides common, easily observed phenomenon. You look up at the sky and see the moon and know it doesn't emit its own light because you can look directly at it. You can look at it through a telescope and see that it is a solid mass and not emitting any radiation of its own.

The same book that told people the world was flat, despite that the curvature of Earth is visible at the horizon--given enough visibility (usually only at an ocean). People need to give it up. The Bible isn't a science book.

Mwahaha, all those years ago Darwin came up with natural selection when really he was thinking of a master plan to undermine religion and indoctrinate others to homosexuality and fancy the same sex like he secretly did!! And finally his plan is coming to fruition!! Mwahahaha!!
