I love that ireland is showing acceptence of LGBT people, but here in america, irish americans are still deeply homophobic.

Well, because in ireland, we are seeing a serious and thoughtful effort towards LGBT acceptence and equality within both the goverment, and within the population.

But in america, irish american groups are still vocal against LGBT people, including demonizing them during St. Patricks day celebrations, and promoting exclusion of LGBT people.

Those groups are hardly representative of all Irish Americans; for starters their membership is considerable older than the general population.
