    In fairness, this was inevitable. The rules were that you can't use parliamentary expenses to pay rent to your partner, as that's effectively paying your shared mortgage, and it needs to be accounted properly. He broke the rules because he didn't want to have to tell his mother he was gay. Forgiveable, but still. But I think he could actually have claimed more if it was down as a shared mortgage.

    I do like Laws, I think the Lib Dems lost out a lot from not having him there, he added credibility to their side of the coalition from an economic point of view.
