That was actually pretty well written! I was expecting homophobia, but the writer managed to convey a level of neutrality very well (I thought) by presenting a number of diverse opinions. Well done David Crary!

There is a good point brought up by Jonathan Rouch, though: "The other side, in short, is counting on us to hand them the victimhood weapon. Our task is to deny it to them." We need to be careful in how we go about protesting, even though it is our right to do so. Public opinion is very powerful, and I'd hope we can keep it from turning against us.

dont wanna play devil's advocate here but...that's kinda what happened haha. Gays weren't accepted and society had to change in a huge way.

 

I don't mean there doesn't need to be a shift in the way society thinks, I mean it's not like we're asking to take over and make everyone parade shirtless around San Francisco belting showtunes and snogging; all we want is to be included as "normal" people.

 

Society not conforming to a homophobes belief system is not them being bullied.
