    1. It's a rural area. Something tells me the demand won't be high.
    2. If my boss says we're going to sell ice cream with nuts and I'm opposed to that, and say I won't sell them, then I'd be fired. Simple as that.

as a public servant, you do not have the right to impose your own agenda to override the law.

She should be stripped of her position, because she has no say in the administration of the law.

Sorry, but this is the reality, lady: if you don't do your job, you'll be fired. What if the custodian at your workplace decided one day that he won't clean the womens restroom anymore because he's morally opposed to entering female facilities? He would be fired, right? Exactly.

Oh silly woman. If you don't sign you'll be fired. She doesn't seem to understand that if the state deems it's legal in New York, pretty sure that means all New York.

Well, good for her for standing up for what she believes in. I'm sure she can get a higher paying job now doing clerical work for one of the megachurches.

It's things like this that show the corruption of religion within society. People are free to believe whatever they want, but when your faith keeps you from doing your job or interacting with others in a civil manner, it's time to re-evaluate yourself. Religion has no place at your job, especially when you job effects so many other people.

She won't do her job, fire her. She'll have to try and find a new one.

There are always procedures to remove elected officials, unless the law is particularly screwed up in New York. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

There are other ways to show her as well. Her jurisdiction (or her personally) could face significant fines or penalties. Once she ACTUALLY refuses to issue one (not just threatening to refuse to sign them) she can be taken to court. Her loosing a court case for refusing to issue a license that the state says should be issued can be pretty pursuasive reasoning for removal from office. Note that the usual method for removal of office goes back to the people that put her in office, though (the voting public)

She could also seek exciting opportunities in one of the many food-service industries that line the boulevards in her neck of the woods...
