i dont think its a bad thing. its just trying to make benefits equal as well. but i think an exception for couples that live in one state and work in another when where they live doesnt allow them to marry. otherwise marriage should be a requirement for marriage benefits in companies in states where same-sex marriage is legal

well, some of the companies already provided offsets and full benifits before same-sex marriage was legalized in new york, so it does make sense. I was reading another article that said that some companies will continue to pay offsets to cover the tax difference between a heterosexual married couple in relation to federal income taxes, and the taxes that same-sex married couples will still have to pay as long as DOMA remains enforced.

IBM was always at the forefront of hiring gays. Besides the fact that modern computer science was practically invented by a gay man, IBM's reasoning was that they get valuable talent that others nonsensically piss away for no good reason at all.

some republicans in wyoming were basically saying the same thing when other republicans at the state level wanted to pass a constitutional ammendment that said that it is illegal for companies to provide benifits to partners of employees in same-sex relationships. They said it would hurt buisness by making it harder for buisnesses to bring in new employees if they put stipulations on the benifits that are offered to their families.

I agree with this. I think it only makes sense.
