We've come a long way baby! This is just awesome, but why did it take so long. I always wondered why the government decided that it was not ok to discriminate against anyone!!!!!! Except homosexuals! Amazing! What do you think about it?

Yeah, no thanks to Obama, who actually hindered the removal of DADT back in 2009. Now he's willing to cut medicaid and social security, cut funding to nursing homes etc. He's basically a lite republican. There's no difference between the republicans and the democrats anymore. The liberal wing in the deomcratic party is long gone. I know many democrats who voted for Obama the first time around would not do so a second time, because they're pissed off at him. And I don't blame them. I would have never voted for Obama either if I was American.

I'm gonna go ahead and defend Obama on these things. Obama blocked the removal of DADT in order to have it removed legislatively (and hopefully create some bipartisanship), which he kinda succeeded in doing.

On the second set of issues, with the spending cuts, I consider them necessary. There are probably other places in the budget that should be cut ahead of Medicaid and social security, but those are huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge chunks of the budget, and with the massive deficits created by the Bush administrations and the current Obama administrations, something has to be cut down a bit to compensate. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Anyway, uhh, back on topic. Yayyy. Down with DADT!

It took almost twenty years to have this level of equality of opportunity in the American military, but it's finally here.

Unfortunately, DADT continues to apply to trans service members.

I found this article on yahoo news this morning and I started crying during it, which was kind of awkward since one of my roommates is sleeping like 5 feet away, but still touching nonetheless:
