If "showing affection" really translates to "were making out in the hot tub and kept making out after being asked by security and the hotel manager to stop," I side with the hotel on this one.

The condo I stay at in Florida doesn't let people make out in the hot tub either, because it's designed for multiple groups of guests to use at once. It's not fair to other people who want to use the hot tub, but feel like they can't because they'd be walking in on someone's groping session.

As for me personally, I don't think anyone should make out in small public spaces that are designed to be shared by strangers (metros, hot tubs, etc...). It's rude and it's awkward.

You're at a hotel...get a room.
