And they couldn't even throw Troy Davis an extra week?

Life in prison is better. Anyone who commits a violent hate crime deserves more of a punishment than a quick needle prick. It's too humane, especially when the person getting the death sentence inflicted so much more pain then they themselves would be subjected to if they were to be executed. It's just not enough of a punishment.

ironicly, life in prison is also tends to be cheaper for the state.

Troy davis probably did not get his extra week - since the evidence was already shown to be flawed and untrustworthy - because he was a ethnic minority convicted of killing a public servant. those two things can illicet passion in the justice system.
