Me too...with a population of almost 200 million, Brazil could become the largest country to legalize gay marriage

    Just an update:

The Court of Justice of Alagoas(a brazilian state), aproved a rule that forced the public notaries to accept the same-sex marriage without the need to enter on justice.

So, from June/2011 to January/2012, this is what happened in Brazil:

June/11>>> a judge in São Paulo state authorized a gay civil union to be converted into a gay wedding for the first time.

October/11>>> The STJ(Supreme Court for no constitutional matters) declared that the legal union of two women who petitioned the court could be recognized as a marriage. By this, a gay couple can convert his civil union to gay wedding with the judge´s approval.

January/12>>> The Court of Justice of Alagoas says that is no longer necessary the judge approval to gay wedding.
