I'm sure it's difficult for these teachers who see kids in their class being bullied and there is nothing really they can do for them.

TBH, I was bullied (not for being gay) and the teachers couldn't be everywhere at once to stop it and I wish someone had told me something I could do to not be picked on so much. My goal was just to survive until high school.

    Just pure ignorance.

These teachers need to be educated.

It's not those being bullied who need to change.

It's probably effective advice if you look at it purely objectively.

But we shouldn't have to do that in the first place.

If those bullies are anything like the ones that tormented me in middle school, they'd find SOMETHING to torment him with even if he started acting as straight as possible. :/

and I tell bully teachers "don't be so Adolph Hitler"... and for once, playing the hitler card doesn't mean one automatically loses the arguement.

Take your bullshit, and get a job in a private fundie christian brainwashing academy, and leave education of children to intelligent people.

If I'm honest, I think people are making to big a deal out of this, don't get me wrong, it is bad and just plain idiotic of them, and I would love to have those teachers lose their jobs, but I mean, teachers have said far worse things to children, including me, on a daily basis, and its no big deal.
And in a way it's not hard to think that will work, but what they don't see is that you can act any way you want, but once you're targeted, nothing will change that.
so basically, yes the teachers are morons, and should get a job more suited to there intelligence, like a petrol jockey, BUT its not as big of deal as they are making it. people are naturally morons, we have to accept that.

I dont know what you guys are talking about. You cant deny the fact that having the appearance of everyone else would get you out of being bullied. The teacher simply stated the obvious facts...

    I'm a bit lost.

All that article says is that the teachers told kids to wear their hair differently.

Am I missing where that said be less gay? Did I overlook a quote or something?

Enjoy paying high prices for sub-standard education.

it depends on where in the country you are, but public schools tend to have broader programs, better results, and prepare kids for the real world. Private schools rarely are education centric, as most are based on extreme ideological divides.

my brother has to reducate alot of private school kids who come into the public school sectors because they are far behind in both their educational faculties, and their social skills.

I remember being told something like that. Looking back on it, it was probably pretty stupid.

By the way, that is just brilliant.

I agree with this. From my own memories of middle school and high school, no matter how much you tried to change, you were already the target and you could do very little to change that.

It's absolutely horrid, but I can't say I'm shocked. I remember many times asking a teacher for help, and having them do absolutely nothing. The system is broken, and no one seems interested in fixing it.

The word 'gay' is just very ingrained in society as a word of derision.
